WORK TEXT


SELFPORTRAIT presents two images of the same person. The AI-generated video embodies the supposedly perfect self that has become fixed in the mind. Opposite it stands the real self, looking at itself with kindness. Two mirrors carry the phrases NEVER ENOUGH and ALWAYS TOO MUCH and. They reveal how impossible it can feel to inhabit one’s body correctly within conflicting expectations. The work examines how deeply self-image is shaped by media, social networks, friends and family, and how difficult it is to perceive one’s own body independently of them.
